TYPE OF MACHINERY:

Liquid ring pumps are particular pumps used for moving liquids or gases.
They consist of a cylindrical compartment inside which an impeller with radial blades rotates, the rotation motion of which ensures the formation of a liquid layer in correspondence with the wall of the compartment. Since the impeller is placed in a non-central position, there is the formation of chambers (delimited by the impeller blades) with variable volume, into which the fluid passes, compressing itself. They are used where it is necessary to pump large quantities of steam without the use of an intermediate condenser. In this type of pumps the water, which is supplied continuously (both for the renewal of the liquid ring and for cooling), causes the condensation of the pumped vapours, with capacity depending on the size of the pumps and the operating temperature.
